A carousel is an Instagram post with several photos you swipe through. Taking a screenshot of each one works, but you lose quality: the screenshot gets cropped, includes bits of the app's interface and has your screen's resolution, not the original photo's.
With Velotu you see every photo in the carousel on a single screen and download each one at the resolution Instagram stores, usually 1080 × 1350 pixels or more.
Step by step
- In Instagram, open the post and tap the three dots or the paper airplane icon.
- Choose Copy link. It doesn't matter which photo in the carousel you're on: the link is for the whole post.
- Go to velotu.com/en/instagram/photos.
- Paste the link and tap Download.
- You'll see all the photos, numbered. Tap Download photo 1, Download photo 2 and so on for the ones you want.

Tips
- Tap a photo's preview to open it full size in another tab before downloading it.
- Photos are saved as JPG, ready to view, edit or print.
- On iPhone you can also tap and hold the preview and choose Save to Photos.
- If the post mixes photos and videos, Velotu shows you the photos and lets you know the video can be downloaded from the Videos tab.
Why not just take a screenshot?
A screenshot captures whatever is on your screen: it includes the app's bars, may cut off the edges and ends up at your phone's resolution. Downloading gives you the original file the creator uploaded, with every pixel. The difference really shows if you plan to print the photo or view it on a large screen.
Limitations
- It only works with public posts.
- It doesn't download profile pictures or stories.
On a computer
On instagram.com, open the post, copy the URL from your browser and paste it into velotu.com/en/instagram/photos. The photos appear in a grid; click Download photo on each one, or open the preview to see it full size.

- Can I download a single-photo post? Yes, it works the same way: you'll see one photo with its button.

- Can I download the whole carousel as one file? For now each photo downloads separately, with its own button.
Tip: If you plan to use someone else's photos on your accounts or in a project, ask them for permission first and credit them as the author.
