Keeping a TikTok video on your device is handy: you can watch it offline, drop it into a presentation, edit it or send it to someone who doesn't use TikTok. The catch is that TikTok's own Save video option isn't available on every video, and it never tells you what quality or format you're getting.

With Velotu you download the video file as the author uploaded it, in MP4 with audio and in the best quality TikTok has available. It takes a few seconds, works in your browser and doesn't require an app or a TikTok account.

Step by step

  1. Open TikTok and find the video you want to save.
  2. Tap the Share button (the arrow on the right side) and choose Copy link.
  3. Go to velotu.com/en/tiktok in the browser on your phone or computer.
  4. Paste the link into the box and tap Download.
  5. Pick a quality. The video downloads as an MP4 file with its original audio.

Why the video comes out in HD and plays everywhere

TikTok stores each video in one or more versions. Velotu lists every version that's available, with its resolution and approximate file size, so you can choose. The top option is the best quality TikTok has for that video, usually 576×1024 or 1080×1920.

Velotu also prefers H.264 whenever TikTok offers more than one version. Some copies come in H.265, a format that certain players and video editors don't handle well; H.264 plays on virtually any phone, computer, TV or editing app.
