It's frustrating: you download a video, open it and the picture looks perfect, but there's no sound. It can almost always be fixed. Here are the most common causes, from most to least likely.
1. The original video has no audio or was muted
Social networks sometimes mute a video's music for copyright reasons. If the video already plays without music in the app, or you see an "audio unavailable" notice, the download will be missing that sound too. Play it on the social network first to check.
2. Your player doesn't recognize the audio format
Some older players don't understand certain audio formats. Try opening the file with VLC (free) or dragging it into a browser tab. If you can hear it there, the problem is the player, not the file.
3. The volume is muted somewhere else
- On your phone, check the silent switch and the media volume (not the ringer volume).
- On your computer, check the player's volume and the system volume mixer.
- If you use Bluetooth headphones, make sure they're connected to the right device.
4. You picked a version without audio in another tool
Some platforms store the video and audio separately, and other tools sometimes download only the picture. In Velotu, when the network delivers audio and video separately, we merge them automatically before handing you the file.
5. The download was interrupted
If your connection dropped halfway through, the file may be incomplete. Look up the video in Velotu again and download it once more.
If nothing works
Email us at contacto@velotu.com or use our contact page, and include the video link and the social network. We'll check whether it's an issue with the post or with the download.
Tip: To edit the video in CapCut or on your computer, always choose the Compatible MP4 option when it's offered: it works best with audio in any editor. If the problem is that the picture won't show, check out this other guide.
